Privacy Policy

Last updated June 30, 2026. This policy explains how Toolsera collects, uses, and protects information when you use our free online tools, and describes your privacy rights.

Who we are

Toolsera (toolsera.dev) provides free browser-first online tools for JSON formatting, Tailwind CSS conversion, PDF processing, image optimization, text utilities, and finance calculations. For privacy purposes, Toolsera is the data controller for any personal data described in this policy. You can contact us at hello@toolsera.dev.

Information we collect automatically

Toolsera is hosted on Netlify. Like all web servers, Netlify may log standard server request data including IP addresses, browser user-agent strings, referring URLs, and request timestamps. These logs are retained by Netlify for security and infrastructure purposes according to Netlify's own privacy policy. Toolsera does not directly store or analyze these server logs for marketing purposes.

Browser-first processing

Tool logic is designed to run locally in your browser where possible. Pasted JSON, text inputs, JWT tokens, images, PDFs, and calculator values are processed using browser APIs on your device and are not intentionally transmitted to Toolsera servers. Avoid processing sensitive or confidential data on shared or untrusted devices.

Local files and outputs

Image and PDF tools use browser canvas and PDF APIs on your device. Generated file downloads use temporary browser object URLs (blob: URLs) that are automatically revoked when you leave or refresh the page. No file content is sent to Toolsera infrastructure during tool use.

Cookies and local storage

Toolsera uses browser localStorage (not HTTP cookies) for essential preferences. The following keys are stored: toolsera-consent (your accepted or rejected consent choice), toolsera.recentTools (an array of recently visited tool paths for the homepage widget), and a theme preference key (your light or dark mode choice). These are stored only in your browser and are not sent to Toolsera servers. You can clear them at any time through your browser settings.

Analytics

Toolsera uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) with Google Consent Mode v2. Analytics data collection requires your explicit consent. When you accept via the Privacy choices banner, analytics_storage is granted and GA4 begins collecting anonymised usage data including page views, tool interactions, and navigation patterns. When you decline, analytics_storage remains denied and Google receives only limited cookieless measurement signals. Toolsera custom analytics events do not include raw tool inputs, pasted text, file names, file contents, decoded JWT claims, or calculator values.

Advertising

Toolsera uses Google AdSense to serve ads that help fund the service. When you accept via the Privacy choices banner, ad_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization are granted, allowing Google and its advertising partners to use cookies or similar identifiers to serve, measure, and personalise ads based on your browsing activity on Toolsera and other websites. When you decline, all advertising signals remain denied and only non-personalised ads may be shown. Advertising consent is independent of your choice to use the tools — declining does not restrict tool functionality.

Consent choices and Google Consent Mode

When you first visit Toolsera, all optional storage (analytics and advertising) is denied by default in compliance with GDPR and similar regulations. The Privacy choices banner lets you accept or restrict analytics and advertising at any time. Your choice is saved to localStorage under the key toolsera-consent. You can reopen Privacy choices at any time via the link in the site footer. Changing your choice takes effect immediately for future page views.

Advertising controls

You can manage Google personalised advertising at adssettings.google.com. You can opt out of interest-based advertising by Google at google.com/settings/ads/onweb. Visitors in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, and California will be presented with consent choices before advertising storage or personalised advertising is enabled. Global privacy regulations such as GDPR, UK GDPR, and CCPA are respected through the Consent Mode defaults.

Third-party services

Toolsera uses the following third-party services: Google Analytics 4 (usage analytics, subject to Google's Privacy Policy), Google AdSense (advertising, subject to Google's Privacy Policy), Netlify (hosting and CDN, subject to Netlify's Privacy Policy). These services may set their own cookies or local storage entries and process data according to their own privacy policies. Data retention

Toolsera does not operate a database of user data. Essential localStorage entries remain in your browser until you clear them. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default under standard GA4 settings. Netlify server access logs are retained per Netlify's infrastructure policies. You can delete your local data at any time by clearing site data in your browser settings.

Your privacy rights

Depending on your location you may have rights including: the right to access personal data held about you; the right to correct inaccurate data; the right to erasure (right to be forgotten); the right to restrict or object to processing; the right to data portability; the right to withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal; and (under CCPA) the right to know what personal data is sold or shared and to opt out. Because Toolsera does not store personal data on its own servers, most of these rights apply primarily to data held by Google Analytics and Google AdSense. To exercise rights regarding that data, visit Google's Data and Privacy portal at myaccount.google.com/data-and-privacy or contact hello@toolsera.dev for assistance.

Children's privacy

Toolsera is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through our service, please contact hello@toolsera.dev so we can take appropriate action.

Do Not Track

Toolsera respects consent-based privacy controls through Google Consent Mode. Toolsera does not respond to browser Do Not Track (DNT) signals because no universally accepted standard for DNT compliance exists. Instead, use the Privacy choices banner to control analytics and advertising storage explicitly.

Changes to this policy

Toolsera may update this policy when services, analytics providers, advertising partners, or applicable legal requirements change. The updated date at the top of this page reflects the latest revision. Continued use of Toolsera after a policy update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy. For significant changes we will update the date prominently. Questions can be sent to hello@toolsera.dev.
